The Nutfield History Group has been recognised by the villagers as well as people from around the world.

It is surprising how many organisations (V&A, BBC, National Archives at Kew, Surrey History Centre, East Surrey History Museum and the local press and Surrey Libraries) have become interested in the group’s work.

Since Richard Deacon started it in 1978 the group has grown with popular coach trips to historic places, lectures, research, genealogical data 1800-2000 and a Nutfield history picture archive containing about 700 images.

Object of the NHG

Objects of the group are to stimulate interest in the history of the parish, and generally to educate and engage the residents, both young and old, in the heritage of the village

Membership is open to all who undertake to further these objects, whether or not they reside in the parish of  Nutfield.

Full members, annual subscription £5, are entitled to attend all events organised by the group without extra charge, except where there is a specific per capita charge, e.g. a guide fee, entrance fee or transportation. Subscriptions are payable on 1st January for that calendar year.

Non-members are welcome at most events. The visitors’ charge is £3. Non-members are also welcome to have a programme card without obligation.
